In the 1900s The Great Migration of African Americans from the south transformed the neighborhood into a Mecca for writers and artists bringing about Harlem’s Golden Age known as the Renaissance. faced Economic adversity in the 1960s and 1970s gave rise to a resurgence in the late 1980s.  We invite you to Explore its present-day community beaming with pride as it revels in Harlem's new renaissance. See famous landmarks, institutions, and enclaves like City College, Morningside Heights, Sugar Hill, the Morris Jumel Mansion, Sylvan Terrace, Strivers Row, Hamilton Grange the and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Stroll along the famous 125th street and see the Apollo Theater. Joining a local congregation* for Sunday worship service and experience the soul-stirring power of gospel music. If you are not available on Sunday, come and join us on our Harlem Gospel tour on Wednesday! *For many years we have developed relationships with churches in Harlem and followed their congregations and gospel choirs. For this reason, church services may now take place in the north of Harlem or the Bronx. This will in no case affect the content or the schedule of the tour.
  • Propper dress is required. Shorts and tank tops are not allowed on this tour. Harlem Spirituals Inc. reserves the right to refuse boarding clients improperly dressed and will not refund the service
  • Guests are invited to take brief walks during stops in the neighborhoods visited. The average stop is about 15 minutes
  • Infants must sit on your lap child seats are unavailable
  • Church services may be held in the Bronx, however, the tour will still cover the Harlem itinerary
  • Soul Food is traditional African American cuisine originating in the United States South. It consists of spicy ribs, collard greens, fried fish and chicken, freshly cooked cornbread, and a few side dishes like black eye peas, okra, or macaroni and cheese to mention a few.
  • With advance notice, wheelchair-bound customers with some mobility can be accommodated in the front rows of the tour bus with their wheelchairs folded away in the luggage compartment. Someone must accompany customers with special needs to assist them onto the coach.
  • For passengers with no mobility or non-foldable wheelchairs, we recommend giving at least 3 weeks’ notice so that we can secure a coach with a wheelchair lift.
  • Wheelchair lifts are 49" X 28" and can carry a maximum weight limit of 700lbs. We kindly ask that you submit the dimensions and model of the chair as our lift may not be able to accommodate scooters and other large-sized electric chairs. A maximum of one person in a wheelchair can be accommodated per bus.
  • Many of the churches that we visit have steps. To accommodate their wheelchair-bound congregation members, churches use portable mobility ramps or lifts.
  • This tour is not suitable for pets
